Four Day Marches means no crochet

In case you haven’t heard of the Four Day Marches in Nijmegen, let me tell you what it is. Once a military training, people walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers for four days in a row. This all happens in the beautiful surroundings of Nijmegen, a city in the Netherlands. Depending on gender and age, you have to walk a certain distance. As a female in between 16 and 60, I have to walk 40 kilometers every day. If I were a boy, I had to walk 10 kilometers extra each day!

I have been walking this for a few years now. It is hard, exhausting and amazing at the same time! It’s a virus: once you finished one year, you will be signing up again the year after. People are so happy and encouraging along the route! Walkers support each other, and the whole route is filled with parties, food and music.

But there is also a downside: I have to rest a lot, so I won’t be having much time for crochet. Maybe I’ll sneak some yarn with me, but with walking for 8 hours and falling asleep as soon as you come home, I don’t think this will be a productive week for me.

While walking, I will be selling my Four Day Marches heart keychains. If you want one, check out my store or find me along the route!
