Decorate your Christmas gifts

With the holiday season coming up, it is time to start working on those gift wraps! I wanted to give my presents a special touch this year, so I made these super cute gift-decorations. Just tie them to your gifts and you will be the talk of the Christmas party. Whether it is with friends, family or the office, no one can resist these wrappings. The perfect gift, even when unopened!

All patterns are made with a 2.5mm hook and written with US crochet terms. When crocheting in rows, don’t forget to chain 1 to turn at the end of each row.

Used stitches:
chain
slip stitch
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
BB: start with a dc but don’t yarn over and pull through the last time. Instead, repeat this 3 times. There are 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over, pull through all five. To start the BB with a different color, change yarn in the last sc before the BB. Change back to your first color when pulling through all five loops.

Christmas tree

Use green yarn. Chain 12.
Row 1: in the third chain, dc. Dc in the rest of the row. Chain 2 to turn.
Row 2: skip the first dc. Dc around the previous row of dc’s, pushing the top of the previous row to the back. Dc the middle two dc’s together. In the last dc, don’t crochet around but crochet a hdc on top of the previous row.
Row 3: skip the first stitch, dc.
Row 4: skip the first dc. Dc around the previous row of dc’s, pushing the top of the previous row to the back. Dc the middle two dc’s together. In the last dc, don’t crochet around but crochet a hdc on top of the previous row.
Row 5: skip the first stitch, dc.
Row 6: skip the first dc. Dc around the previous row of dc’s, pushing the top of the previous row to the back. Dc the middle two dc’s together. In the last dc, don’t crochet around but crochet a hdc on top of the previous row.
Row 7: skip the first stitch, dc.
Chain 11, attach to top with slip stitch. F/O.

Attach brown yarn to the bottom. Sc 4 for four rows. F/O and sew in the loose ends.

Christmas ball

I used red yarn, but you can make these in any color you want.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring  (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc (12)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in each 2nd sc (18)
Rnd 4: 2 sc in each 3rd sc (24)
Rnd 5: 2 sc in each 4th sc (30)
Rnd 6: 2 sc in each 5th sc (36)
Rnd 7: 2 sc in each 6th sc (42)

For the decorations:
I used red and white yarn for the decorations, to make the BB’s pop even more.
Chain 14
Row 1: sc in each (13)
Row 2: sc, sc, BB, [sc]x3, BB, [sc]x3, BB, sc, sc (13)
Row 3: sc in each (13)
F/O and leave a long tail for sewing.

Sew the decoration on the middle of the circle. Sew two silver lines (one below and one above the decoration). Attach silver yarn on top and sc 4. Turn, sc 4. Turn, sc 4. Crochet 2 slip stitches, chain 11 and attach to top with a slip stitch. Slip stitch to the end, F/O and sew in all the loose threads.

Pull a ribbon through the loops to attach the decorations to your gifts. All set! I would like to see your creations! Share with #nerdwithyarn or tag me: @nerdwithyarn.
